Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions.
What is RENTFLOW?
RENTFLOW Is an insurance-based solution designed to protect renters by covering their rent during life’s unexpected challenges, such as illness, injury, or loss of income.
How does RENTFLOW work?
If you're unable to pay rent due to a qualifying event, RENTFLOW ensures your rent is paid directly to your landlord. This provides financial stability and peace of mind while you recover.
Who is eligible for RENTFLOW?
To sign up for RENTFLOW, you must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 18 and 60. If you meet our underwriting requirements and complete the quick enrollment process, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with being a RENTFLOW member.
What makes RENTFLOW different from other rent payment services?
Unlike flexible payment services that offer short-term loans you have to repay, RENTFLOW provides real financial security through insurance. If you're unable to work due to an injury or illness, RENTFLOW covers your rent—without adding debt—so you can focus on recovery instead of repayment.
Can my RENTFLOW account be transferred to another person?
No, RENTFLOW memberships are non-transferable. Your policy is specifically tied to you as the insured member and cannot be transferred to another person. If someone else in your household wants coverage, they will need to enroll separately.
Will I have to pay back the money I receive from RENTFLOW?
No. The money you receive from RENTFLOW’s insurance carriers is not a loan. As part of your RENTFLOW membership, you are covered to receive your benefits under your policy, and the funds do not have to be repaid.
Will I have to continue paying my insurance premiums while I’m not working due to an illness or injury?
Yes, but don’t worry! Your premium payment can be automatically deducted from your benefits claim each month, making it effortless to keep your coverage active while you’re out of work.
What situations does RENTFLOW cover?
RENTFLOW provides rent protection when a qualifying event causes a temporary inability to work and results in a loss of income. Covered situations typically include medically certified illness, injury, recovery, behavioral health-events. Benefits may be paid directly to the property or to the tenant, as permitted. Routine absences without medical certification, voluntary unemployment, or events outside program terms may not be covered.
Does RENTFLOW cover maternity or pregnancy?
Yes. RENTFLOW provides rent protection during a temporary loss of income when the enrolled individual is medically unable to work due to pregnancy, childbirth/recovery, or pregnancy-related complications. A clinician’s note may be required. Coverage applies only to the pregnant, enrolled person—it does not extend to a spouse/partner or father unless that individual is separately enrolled and medically unable to work under the plan. All benefits are subject to the plan’s waiting period, benefit duration, and other terms.
Does RENTFLOW include other benefits?
Absolutely. Our mission is to help renters stay housed—no matter what life brings. In the near future, we plan to expand RENTFLOW’s support to include protection against more serious life events. Because true housing stability means being covered through every chapter—not just the short-term financial setbacks.
How many times can I file a RENTFLOW claim?
You can file an unlimited number of RENTFLOW claims as long as your coverage remains active. Please note that certain rules and conditions apply based on your plan, including benefit maximums and waiting periods between claims.
